ACADEMICS
The transformative learning process at Lakeside Middle School is designed to help our students grow both in and out of the classroom. Each day is filled with opportunities to experience new educational and social situations to further development. Our teachers create a safe and open setting, where they can guide students in exploring the world around them.

As student athletes, the standard to participate in sports is directly related to academic progress and action. In order to fully participate, student athletes must maintain good grades, positive relationships with teachers and peers in the classroom, and ultimately, act as role models throughout the school day.
Academic Eligibility Process

If you have an “F” at the time grade checks are run (12 PM on Mondays), you will be placed on Academic Suspension for the ENTIRE WEEK. . There are no exceptions.

If a student athlete improves their “F” grade, the student athlete will remain ineligible until the following Monday.

Teacher discretion, unless otherwise informed by the Athletic Director, no longer exists. Students will approach teachers to get help on work they don’t understand, improve their grades by turning in late and/or missing work, and work towards improving their grades for the next grade check.

To be removed from suspension, it is the STUDENT’S responsibility to follow through with the the Academic Improvement Plan during that week. What impacts their ability to play sports at Lakeside Middle School is their efforts in the classroom.

If a student does not have any “F” grades at the next Monday’s grade check, the student will then become eligible to play that week.
